Meet Mike

Mike Turek

NYS BLS CIC

Surprisingly EMS was not actually my first career. I attended a Professional Photography college and graduated with a degree in 2007. I then opened up a small commercial photography studio that gave me the pleasure of working with both large international and local clients. However in the summer of 2007 I started my forever career by taking my first EMT class. Fifteen years later, I found that not only do I have a passion for patient care but through my time as a full time EMT and Paramedic provider I saw students floundering with older methods of teaching EMS. This is why I became a CIC and found a greater passion for EMS education. In March of 2020 I founded Medic Materials. A completely online 21st century approach to EMS education. Creating weekly content for EMT/Paramedic students as well as current EMS professionals across five separate media platforms, including the Medic Materials Podcast.

FAQ

  • What is a CME?

A CME or CE stands for Continuing Medical Education. These are education courses medical providers take to maintain their certifications and to qualify for recertification.

  • What type of CME credit do you offer?

All of the courses available on the Medic Materials CME Academy are BLS certified for the CFR/EMR and EMT Basic levels.

  • Can an advanced level provider like an AEMT or Paramedic take your courses?

Yes! Absolutely they can. They will also receive CME credit however they should use it within their Non-Core elective fields for recertification.

  • Where can I use your CME's?

All of the courses available through the Medic Materials CME Academy are certified as a NYS Continuing Medical Education course. This means that the credit earned here is good for all NYS EMS providers for recertification. If you are a provider outside of New York State please check with your recertification CIC to see if our CME's can be counted towards your recert.

  • Pennsylvania providers!

If you are a certified EMS provider in the state of Pennsylvania you can now utilize any CMEs via Medic Materials for your recert hours. Since these are certified through NYS, Pennsylvania will also accept these credits.
